One of Auburn’s top commits in the 2021 class has sustained a serious injury.

According to Keith Niebuhr of 247sports.com, 4-star running back Armoni Goodwin tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee during his game last week for Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) High School. Goodwin will undergo surgery next week and miss an extended period of time.

Goodwin is the No. 3 running back and the No. 4 recruit from Alabama in the 2021 class per the 247sports composite rankings. He was the first player in the class to commit to Auburn when he chose the Tigers on May 22.

Goodwin’s commitment also marked a strong start on the recruiting trail for Cadillac Williams, who is in his first year as Auburn’s running backs coach.

Since Goodwin committed, the Tigers have gotten two more commits in the 2021 class — 4-star quarterback Aaron McLaughlin and 4-star athlete Brandon Perry.

While Goodwin likely won’t play again this season, he’s only a junior, so he should get some more high school experience before he heads to Auburn in 2021.
