Auburn vs. Ole Miss: Prediction and preview
Auburn and Ole Miss will meet for the 47th time, dating back to 1928. The Tigers lead the all-time series 35-10 and are 13-2 in Oxford, including a current 6-game winning streak. It’s been a historic start for the Rebels as they are 6-0, and the last time Ole Miss started 6-0 without having to vacate wins was 1962. The Rebels are ranked No. 9 in the AP Top 25 Poll.
The Tigers were 31-20 winners last season at Jordan-Hare Stadium, and Auburn was a 35-28 winner in the teams’ last meeting in Oxford during the 2020 season. Twelve of the last 18 games in the series have been decided by double digits; Auburn has a 10-2 record in those games. Prior to the last 18 games, the previous 5 games were decided by 8 points or less.

As Auburn looks to keep that winning streak alive in the series, the Tigers will need to establish an offensive identity. Harsin said the goal is to be balanced between run and pass, with play-action mixed in, and to get out on the perimeter and still be firm and be able to run downhill, between the tackles.”
“Have we been very good at that at this point; are we where we want to be right now? We’re not,” Harsin said. “But that’s what our identity is. We’re still working on building that identity. We have the vision for it. We’ve got to actually do it.”
For Ole Miss’ defense, Lane Kiffin called Auburn QB Robby Ashford an elite scrambler, and the Rebels must stay in their rush lanes to tackle him.

On offense, Jaxson Dart leads the SEC and ranks fifth in the FBS in yards per completion (14.9), but ran into a couple of interceptions last week in the win over Vanderbilt.
“I’d really like him to not throw the ball to the other team,” Kiffin said. “That would be a big improvement from last week. … He has done really, really good things. (The interceptions have) been the glaring thing.”
Ole Miss’ offense this season has been marked by a dominant rushing attack behind Quinshon Judkins, who leads all freshman nationally with 8 total touchdowns.
