Bo Jackson is apparently dealing with a serious case of the hiccups.

The Auburn icon said Wednesday that he was absent from Frank Thomas’ statue dedication earlier this spring due to his ailment.

“I wasn’t there because I’m dealing with hiccups,” Jackson said on McElroy and Cubelic In the Morning. “I’ve had the hiccups since last July and I’m getting a medical procedure done at the end of this week I think to try to remedy it.

“But I’m busy at the hospital sitting up with the doctors poking me and shining lights down my throat and probing me every way they can to find out why I’ve got these hiccups.”

The former NFL and MLB star sounded hopeful that a solution will be found soon.

Jackson, 60, said he’s tried every typical home remedy — along with one that’s not-so-common — to get rid of the hiccups.

“I have done everything,” Jackson said. “Scare me, drink water upside down, smell the ass of a porcupine, it doesn’t work.”
