Bryan Harsin could return to team ahead of Auburn's season-opener
There is no “good time” to test positive for COVID-19, but for a college football team, two weeks ahead of the season-opener is certainly not a good time to have your head coach quarantined after a positive test. There is good news, though: Bryan Harsin could resume in-person coaching duties ahead of Auburn’s season-opener.
Nathan King of 247Sports shared word from an Auburn spokesperson that Harsin could be out of his COVID isolation in time to coach against Akron on Sept. 4.
Team spokesperson: Auburn’s COVID-19 protocols call for 10 days in isolation following a positive result. Season opener is 16 days from when Bryan Harsin tested positive yesterday, so as long as he’s feeling well, he’ll be on the sideline against Akron.

Harsin tested positive Thursday and Friday is Day 1 of his isolation period. In a statement announcing his positive test result, Harsin said he does not have any symptoms. Assuming he feels well and continues to not show symptoms, it sounds like he should be back coaching practice in-person ahead of Game 1.
In Harsin’s absence, linebackers coach Jeff Schmedding is handling in-person head coaching responsibilities.
