On Saturday, a block from Auburn FB Chandler Cox ended up injuring Tennessee DL Jonathan Kongbo, tearing his ACL.

On Wednesday, Cox was asked about the play, and he said he’s really sorry it happened.

Cox said he feels bad about the play, but added that injuries are an unfortunate part of football (via AL.com):

“It always bugs me,” said Cox. “I’ve actually been thinking about that, when I saw on Sunday where he hurt his knee and tore his ACL. That’s something that, it’s terrifying. It’s hard for any player. That’s why I try to help guys up, because I know how much work is put into football.

“To see someone get hurt like that, especially when I do it, it breaks my heart. I was debating if I should write him or not. It’s football, though, and injuries are going to happen. But yeah, it’s always a devastating thing, especially when I do it.”

Sadly, Kongbo’s Tennessee career is over now, but Cox can’t do anything about it now.

It was unfortunate that it happened, but it wasn’t intentional, and as Cox said, it’s just a part of the game.
