At the top of Matt Rhule’s to-do-list upon his arrival in Carolina was to make the Panthers a tougher team. Taking that into consideration, Carolina couldn’t have done much better with Rhule’s first draft pick as an NFL head coach.

The former Baylor and Temple coach is on a mission to prove he has what it takes to be a successful NFL head coach following several great seasons at the college level and he passed his first draft test as the Panthers took one of the best overall prospects with the No. 7 overall pick when they selected Derrick Brown at the top of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The selection of Brown is being hailed as the best Carolina could have done without traded up draft capital to move up and Rhule’s comments soon after drafting the lineman out of Auburn back that up.

Carolina shared the following conversation between Rhule and Brown from Thursday night, where it’s clear the coach is fired up to land his target in the 2020 NFL Draft.
