Auburn defensive lineman Derrick Brown has been a monster this season.

The sophomore defensive tackle is second on the Tigers’ tackling charts with a total of 44 stops this season. He’s had eight tackles for a loss to go along with 3.5 sacks.

Brown has been noticed by the national media for his outstanding season.

ESPN college football analyst — and former Georgia All-American — David Pollack had great things to say about Brown on Friday.

After noting how “dirty” both Auburn and Alabama’s defenses are heading into the Iron Bowl, Pollack spoke about the Tigers’ defensive tackle.

“He just eats people,” Pollack said. “He is one of the strongest players that I’ve watched on tape this season. He literally hits people, and it’s like you hit the eject button, man. They just start flying backwards even if he doesn’t have his balance.”

Pollack expects the Iron Bowl to be a lot of fun, in general.

“Auburn’s line is really good, ridiculous. Obviously, Alabama has a good d-line too,” Pollack said. “I don’t think they (Alabama) have those kind of guys. It’s different, more, true 2-gap guys. (Da’Ron) Payne is one of the best linemen in the country.

“But they don’t have the depth they used to have. Bama used to be able to rotate guys in and out the past couple seasons, and they don’t have that. I think Auburn’s offensive tempo against that defense (will be effective).”
