Fired up Gus Malzahn receives welcomed celebration by players after blowing out LSU
Nothing but love, coach.
That’s how Auburn players felt in a spirited and celebratory locker room as they handed out the game ball to Tigers coach Gus Malzahn. With clapping and pointing, Malzahn, who celebrated a birthday last week, led the players in a spirited rendition of the fight song.
“War Eagle, fly down the field,
Ever to conquer, never to yield.
War Eagle, fearless and true.
Fight on you orange and blue.
Go! Go! Go!
On to vict’ry, strike up the band.
Give ’em hell, give ’em hell,
Stand up and yell, hey!
War Eagle, win for Auburn,
Power of Dixieland!”
There was plenty of reason to celebrate following the 48-11 win over LSU on The Plains.
QB Bo Nix accounted for 381 yards of total offense and four touchdowns as Auburn rolled at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday.
Auburn disrupted LSU quarterback TJ Finley, a true freshman who was making his first career road start in place of the injured Myles Brennan. Finley had two interceptions and one strip-sack fumble that directly led to 21 Auburn points.
Eli Stove, Anthony Schwartz, Seth Williams, and JJ Pegues all recorded at least 3 receptions. Running back Tank Bigsby added 71 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
