Despite being the No. 1 recruit in the 2015 recruiting class by some measures, Byron Cowart never lived up to expectations at Auburn.

After two lackluster seasons, he left the program last fall, and now he has resurfaced at Maryland, where he’ll attempt to make an impact for the Terrapins.

According to a report in the Baltimore Sun, Cowart is feeling much less pressure at his new school and is having fun on the field again:

“There would be some days [at Auburn] when I was like, ‘Man, I’m dreading practice,’ and stuff,” he said. “But now, this is my sanctuary. I come — I don’t even think about what’s going on outside. When I’m on the field, I just can have fun. I got my confidence back. I’m feeling good.”

Cowart recorded 15 tackles and no sacks in his Auburn career. However, sometimes a change of scenery is all a player needs to thrive.

Cowart has another chance at Maryland, and whether or not he finds success there is up to him.
