Dan Mullen’s halftime comments to CBS Sports’ Jamie Erdahl at halftime drew an immediate reaction from plenty of fans, including former Auburn player Rob Pate.

“If a coach gets fined for questioning officiating to the press, his penalty should be exceedingly higher for falsely calling the play of an opposing player “dirty,” Pate tweeted. “Mullen is so easy to dislike. SEC should put a stop to that.”

Pate is a former Auburn DB from 1998-2000.

Mullen referred to Auburn DL Marlon Davidson’s hit on Florida QB Kyle Trask, which led to an injury to his left leg. Trask appeared to be in serious pain, but returned at the end of the first half with a brace on his left knee.

There wasn’t a flag on the play.

“Yeah, he’s going to be okay,” Mullen said in the interview. “He’s going to come back, I think he has a light sprain to his MCL. Hopefully the league tries to keep quarterbacks safe from dirty plays.”

Florida led Auburn 17-13 at halftime in a game that had five turnovers and eight penalties between the teams.
