Former Auburn standout Carl Lawson to miss 2021 season due to injury
Tough news for Carl Lawson. An MRI has confirmed the former Auburn standout will miss the 2021 season with a torn Achilles.
It’s a tough blow for Lawson and the New York Jets. NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport notes that Lawson had been one of the Jets’ top players in training camp this season.
Lawson signed a 3-year, $45 million deal this offseason with the Jets after spending the first four seasons of his professional career with the Cincinnati Bengals, who drafted him in Round 4 of the 2017 NFL Draft. In his pro career, Lawson has played in 51 games, including 14 starts (11 coming in 2020), recording 81 tackles (19 for loss), 83 quarterback hits and 2 forced fumbles.
#Jets pass-rusher Carl Lawson did suffer a torn Achilles, the MRI confirmed. He’s out for the season after being one of their best players in camp. Just a terrible blow.
