What Auburn's Gus Malzahn said on his weekly radio show
Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn talked about his team and took questions from fans during the Tiger Talk radio show on Monday night.
The Tigers lost 20-13 to Georgia last Saturday. The loss dropped their record to 5-5.
Malzahn said the Tigers have to find a way to score more points. He said the offense sputtered against Georgia, and was disappointed that Auburn was held to 13 points.

What did Georgia do to stop the vertical passing game? “We got to do a better job in that area. … We got to be able to run the football.”

The coach also conceded that Auburn didn’t run the ball as well in the second half as it had in the first 30 minutes.
On the other hand, Malzahn thought Auburn’s defense played well against Georgia.

One fan told Malzahn what his offensive game plan would be: Run the ball constantly.

Auburn’s coach praised Daniel Carlson, saying he’s one of the best kickers in college football. Carlson has made his last 14 field goals, including two against Georgia.

Malzahn also complimented two sophomore defensive backs, Stephen Roberts and Nick Ruffin, who have gotten more playing time recently.

Malzahn admitted that quarterback Sean White wasn’t healthy last Saturday. White has been battling a knee injury suffered against Arkansas on Oct. 24. Jeremy Johnson took most of the snaps against Georgia, and completed 14 of 22 passes for 61 yards, and was picked off once. White played briefly, but completed only one of five passes, for just one yard.

Center Austin Golson suffered a knee injury against Georgia. Malzahn is unsure how long it will take him to come back. Devonte Danzey moved from guard to center after Golson got hurt, and Malzahn felt the senior did well.

The coach is hopeful that safety Tray Matthews can play this week. Matthews has missed the Tigers’ last two games with an ankle injury.
Malzahn says Tray Matthews (ankle) “is doing better.” Hoping he can play this week against Idaho.

This Saturday, Auburn (5-5) hosts Idaho (3-7) in a non-conference game at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be shown on the SEC Network. Malzahn knows that Idaho is just 3-7, but says you can’t overlook anyone in college football.
Tiger Talk airs on Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET, and features Malzahn taking calls from Tiger fans. The show can be streamed online at this link.
