Gus Malzahn comments on Chip Lindsey's status and more ahead of Auburn's SEC title appearance
Next weekend, Auburn will face Georgia in a rematch of the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry for the SEC title.
The game will also likely decide one of the four spots in the College Football Playoff, so the stakes are high for coach Gus Malzahn’s Tigers.
Auburn routed Georgia 40-17 three weeks ago, but it is tough to beat a team twice in such a short span of time.
That said, here’s what Malzahn had to say about the title-game matchup with the Bulldogs (as well as some coaching rumors) during a teleconference on Sunday evening:
On rumors that South Alabama is interested in OC Chip Lindsey:
Gus Malzahn asked about the report that South Alabama could be interested in Chip Lindsey. Said Lindsey "will be a head coach at this level," but also that "I expect him to be around here a while. … We have some unfinished business."

On Georgia having home-field advantage in Atlanta (via AL.com):
“They’re going to have a crowd, there’s no doubt… This being the SEC Championship, it’s as big as it gets.”
