Gus Malzahn discusses defensive lapses, previews Georgia in news conference

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn had his weekly meeting with the media on Tuesday afternoon.
Malzahn recapped the Tigers’ 41-38 loss to Texas A&M and previewed the matchup with Georgia in primetime on Saturday night.
- Called Georgia “very good and very talented” team Auburn has to face this week.
- WR Duke Williams is “week-to-week”. Malzahn “not ready to say” he’s out this week at Georgia, but called it unlikely
- Said coaches take the losses hard. “Coaches have to move on and our staff has done that.”
- Called Georgia linebackers “two most experienced in our league.”
- Malzahn said getting off to better starts defensively is what the Tigers have to fix. Said that’s fixed in practice.
- Said it’s his job to get the best out of all three phases … Malzahn said he feels good about leadership guys
- When asked if he’s spoken to SEC coordinator of officials Steve Shaw this week about the fumbles, Malzahn said the two “have conversations every week on plays that happen”
- Called getting a pass rush with front four “a big factor” to defense
- Said Georgia’s two freshman backs are “extremely talented”
- Gurley “one of the better individual players at any position”
- Said offense is in “solid shape” without Duke Williams
- Malzahn said he is not worried about the way last year’s game versus Georgia ended; “That was last year.”
- Called Corey Grant “a very good player for us”
- Said Grant may have not gotten number carries, but he’s done a lot of things for Tigers
