One the eve of Big Cat Weekend, the Plains are buzzing for one of the biggest recruiting events of the offseason for Auburn.

Big Cat Weekend is a recruiting event where future Tigers and perspective recruits all meet to get acquainted with each other and the coaching staff, as well as tour the facilities.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn was an offensive coordinator for the Tigers when the event began in 2009, and now he’s proud to continue the tradition according to Auburn’s official website.

“It’s one of those unique weekends that we’ve been doing here at Auburn since 2009, and it’s been the most important recruiting weekend every year,” said Gus Malzahn. “I think 70 to 80 percent of our current players went through Big Cat.”

Auburn is often focused on family, and Malzahn says that this event is no different.

“This is a weekend that we have a lot of our top recruits,” Malzahn said. “It gives them a chance to bond not only with our coaches and our families but each other in a very unique setting.”
