The big question persists for Auburn ahead of its Iron Bowl clash with rival Alabama: Who will start at quarterback?

Incumbent starter Sean White has been battling a shoulder injury. It’s hindered his ability to push the ball downfield, and has also hurt his accuracy.

Jeremy Johnson performed well this past weekend versus Alabama A&M, but he’s also got a history of being inconsistent. John Franklin III hasn’t quite adjusted to the high D1 game. He’s dynamic as a runner, but struggles immensely when asked to throw the football.

Head coach Gus Malzahn was asked on Wednesday about White’s availability for this contest. The sophomore out of Florida is the most efficient signal-caller Auburn has, and can distribute the ball (when healthy) exceptionally well:

“We have not made that call yet. Sean practiced yesterday. In fact, everyone practiced yesterday. I would like to make that call today, but I’m not sure we are there yet. Sean needs to be healthy enough to protect himself.”
