Gus Malzahn will be heading back to Talladega this month.

The Auburn coach was announced as the grand marshal for the iconic superspeedway’s GEICO 500 on April 29.

“I’m really looking forward to being the Grand Marshal at Talladega,” Malzahn told the speedway’s website . “It was really exciting a few years ago driving the pace car. It was a great experience, gave me a great appreciation of the drivers and how fast they go. The crowd was unbelievable too, so I’m looking forward to getting back with that group, too.”

Malzahn was an Honorary Pace Car Driver at Talladega in 2014. This year’s GEICO 500 is part of tripleheader motorsports weekend, which also includes the General Tire 200 ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards race on Friday, April 27, and the Saturday, April 28 Sparks Energy 300 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Malzahn recently welcomed driver Erik Jones, who drives the No. 20 Toyota for Joe Gibbs, to the Auburn campus promoting the GEICO 500.
