Gus Malzahn provided an update Thursday on Tigers running back Kamryn Pettway.

Malzahn reportedly said during his weekly radio appearance that Auburn is “pretty healthy right now” other than the aforementioned running back.

Pettway, he said, will not play this week when the nation’s sixth-ranked Tigers battle Louisiana-Monroe.

He also “probably” will not play next week, according to a tweet from Auburn insider Josh Vitale. That’s big news considering Auburn hosts No. 1 Alabama in the Iron Bowl next week.

Pettway was Auburn’s leading rusher last season with 1,224 yards. This year, however, he’s been hampered due to multiple injuries.

After also leading the SEC in rushing a season ago, Pettway has just 305 yards on the ground this year.

It has been quite an unfortunate season for such a talented back, but the Tigers’ running game has hardly missed a beat. Auburn is averaging over 236 yards per game on the ground.
