Things haven’t gone well for Auburn this season, which led to coach Gus Malzahn being asked about potential changes during his weekly press conference on Tuesday.

Will Jarrett Stidham continue to start at quarterback? Will offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey continue to call plays?

Malzahn had the same answer to both questions — yes.

“Jarrett gives us the best chance of winning,” Malzahn told the media.

And Malzahn is satisfied with Lindsey’s play-calling.

“I think he’s done a solid job for the most part,” Malzahn told the media.

The Tigers are 4-3 after losing to Tennessee this past Saturday, which has had many Auburn fans discouraged by the team’s performance thus far.

Even though Malzahn is only seven games into a seven-year contract at Auburn, he was asked if he feels like he is coaching for his job the rest of this season.

“No, I feel like I’m coaching for my players,” Malzahn told the media. “We’re going to finish this the right way. We’ve got to get through this. And we are going to get through this.”

Here are some other topics that Malzahn addressed to the media:

  • Freshman running back Asa Martin is not going to redshirt. Malzahn said he will contribute on special teams and get some carries on offense.
  • Tackle Calvin Martin is out with a “medical issue.” Malzahn expects him to be back in the near future.
  • Malzahn said he is disappointed because the Tigers’ goal was to win a national championship this season, but that is unlikely to happen now.
