Hugh Freeze and Auburn reportedly agreed to a 6-year deal.

Pete Thamel of ESPN reports that Freeze’s contract at AU is for $6.5 million per year over 6 seasons. Thamel notes that $6.5 million per year would rank No. 8 in 2022 SEC salaries.

Freeze was making $3.5 million per year at Liberty, a private university that is 1 of 7 independent programs at the FBS level. Freeze had recently signed a new deal at Liberty, which was set to up his pay to $5 million per year.

While the Auburn deal isn’t the biggest step up in pay for Freeze relative to the Liberty extension, it’s no secret that he was looking for an opportunity to get back into the SEC.
