One of the best defensive players in the SEC is on the mind of Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham this week as the Tigers head to Athens for a game Saturday night.

Georgia DB Deandre Baker has turned in one of the best seasons of any cornerback as he’s shut down most top receivers across the SEC this season. He was a preseason All-America first-team selection by the Associated Press.

While Kentucky had some success against Baker last week, including a pass interference call, he has eight pass breakups and two interceptions this season with 29 total tackles and a forced fumble. His presence has also shifted the coverage across the field as Georgia’s able to focus on other areas as he typically locks down his area.

Baker is one of the challenges facing Stidham and the Tigers’ passing game when the two sides meet Saturday night on ESPN.

“He’s extremely good,” Stidham said, according to AL.com. “Obviously has a lot of experience. We have a lot of experience playing him and playing this defense. It’s going to be a test, for us, but I think we’re going to have a great plan in place to attack them in certain ways and hopefully move the ball down the field.”
