Auburn had been doing an outstanding job keeping players on campus following the coaching change from Gus Malzahn to interim Kevin Steele to finally landing on Bryan Harsin.

Considering all that coaching turnover on The Plains, you’d think the roster would have undergone massive changes, but that hasn’t been the case. At least, not until recently.

Over the last week, Auburn has seen four players enter the NCAA transfer portal. Now we can add a new name to the list as 2021 signee Kamal Hadden of Independence Community College has decided to enter the portal. Matt Zenitz of AL.com first reported this news.

Hadden signed with Auburn after Malzahn’s firing but back when Steele was the interim coach for the Tigers and appeared to be close to landing the full-time job on The Plains.

Hadden’s decision to enter the transfer portal comes after defensive linemen Jaren Handy and Jay Hardy, quarterback Chayil Garnett, and defensive back Chris Thompson all did the same following the conclusion of spring camp.

Hadden played during Auburn’s A-Day Spring Game and even managed to force a fumble.

Here is Hadden’s bio listed on the official Auburn website:

Before Auburn: Tenacious defensive back with a strong upside … totaled 21 tackles, 8 PBU, 3 forced fumbles in 2019 for the Independence CC Pirates … ESPN and 24/7 rate him a top five prospect at corner … two-year starter for Coach Corey Parker at River Rouge High … all-conference as a senior for the 10-1 Panthers … also a basketball letterman
