They’ve split the last four meetings, and are two of the reasons many regard the SEC West as arguably the strongest division in college football.

It is the marquee afternoon game on CBS this week at Auburn, and SEC Network host Paul Finebaum said in an interview with WJOX 94.5 that LSU and Auburn are back on track.

The home team has won the last five meetings, as LSU in 2012 was the last road team to win in this series. Of course, the storyline leading up to the game will be Auburn’s blown 20-point lead in last year’s loss.

“This is once again the game of the day, and these are two teams a year ago were kind of all over the place,” Finebaum said. “I like Auburn right now because of what I’ve seen from them. You can’t compare beating Miami to beating Washington. I think Washington was a far-more significant impactful win. I don’t want to take anything away from LSU — they looked really good, which no one quite expected them to do. But this is a pretty tall mountain to climb to beat Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium.”
