Peyton Barber had a nice season at running back for Auburn in 2015, gaining 1,017 yards on the ground and scoring 13 touchdowns. But still, it was a bit of a surprise when he announced  Monday that he would be leaving Auburn early for the 2016 NFL Draft.

Now that Barber is gone, what will Auburn’s backfield look like in 2016?

The first look will be at Jovon Robinson. When Barber got injured and had to sit out a few games last season, Robinson not only stepped in but did a tremendous job. Robinson ended the season as Auburn’s second-leading rusher with 639 rushing yards.

Roc Thomas is another RB to turn to. Last season, he was used at running back and receiver, finishing with around 200 yards in each category.  Thomas averaged an impressive 6.1 yards per carry last season.

Jason Smith could also play a role. The former quarterback-turned wide receiver contributed some crucial plays in the run game.

Auburn’s 2016 recruiting class does bring new blood into the position, most notably Malik Miller, a three-star recruit ranked 23rd in the country at the position. With Barber gone, he could see more playing time as as freshman.
