Auburn rising redshirt junior running back JaTarvious “Boobee” Whitlow has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz. By entering the portal, it allows other programs to contact Whitlow about a potential transfer; however, it doesn’t guarantee a transfer.

In the last two seasons, Whitlow has rushed for 1,550 yards on 306 carries for 16 touchdowns, with 10 of those scores coming in 2019. Following the game against Florida this past season, Whitlow had knee surgery and would miss time after a strong start to the season. Even in the close loss to LSU, Whitlow wasn’t a factor for the Tigers, as he rushed just three times for nine yards.

Whitlow carried just nine times for 24 yards and one touchdown in the Outback Bowl loss against Minnesota.

Rumors had been swirling recently that he may depart from Auburn, and if he does transfer, it would leave a big opening in a Tigers backfield that has struggled running the ball the last two years. Returners DJ Williams, Mark-Antony Richards and Shaun Shivers would certainly benefit from Whitlow’s departure, along with true freshman Tank Bigsby.
