Kenny Dillingham’s contract is the cheapest and shortest for an Auburn offensive coordinator since 2013, according to a report from Auburn Undercover that revealed the details of his deal.

The Tigers will pay Dillingham $500,000 over his two-year contract, which runs until Jan. 31, 2021. The numbers come from a memorandum of understanding that Auburn Undercover received via an open records request.

Included in Dillingham’s contract is a clause that does not require him to pay a buyout if he leaves the school after Dec. 1, 2019, or the SEC Championship Game, should Auburn reach that stage.

Former Tigers offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey had a $700,000 base salary, and Rhett Lashlee before him enjoyed a $600,000 base salary. Lashlee, though, originally made just $350,000 when he was hired in 2012.

The price tag and length of Dillingham’s contract don’t necessarily reflect well on Auburn coach Gus Malzahn’s job security, but if the pair can get the Tigers’ offense back on track, that won’t be too big of an issue moving forward.
