Could Auburn be on the verge of gaining an addition to its 2023 recruiting class?

Clay Wedin, an offensive lineman from Tampa, is considered by 247Sports as the No. 22 interior offensive lineman in his class. The 6-foot-6, 295-pounder committed to Michigan State in June days after an official visit.

However, on Monday, Wedin tweeted that he had re-opened his recruitment, days after the Spartans fell to 2-4 after a loss to Ohio State. They are now 0-3 in the B1G after an 11-2 record and a Peach Bowl victory over Pittsburgh.

“After a ton of prayer and thought, I have made the difficult decision to decommit from Michigan State,” Wedin wrote. “This decision does not have anything to do with football or academics, it is a personal decision I have made.”

On October 1, Wedin was on the Auburn campus for an unofficial visit, his 2nd since the Tigers extended an offer to him in January. In fact, a 247 Crystal Ball prediction on Monday has him going to the Plains after his decommitment.
