On a night in which the Auburn football team accepted the Iron Bowl trophy, the basketball team was also energized to play Alabama.

Even though the Tigers were down to seven scholarship players thanks to G Mustapha Heron having the stomach flu, coach Bruce Pearl’s squad came out with a bang, dominating from the opening whistle to avenge an earlier loss in Tuscaloosa, winning 90-71.

Alabama star freshman PG Collin Sexton had an incredible game, leading all scorers with 25 points, but he didn’t get much help as the Crimson Tide fell once again on the road.

For the Tigers, PG Jared Harper led the way, pouring in 21 points, while fellow G Bryce Brown added 18.

The Tigers kept their lead in the SEC standings, improving to 12-3 in conference play and 24-4 overall. The Tide, meanwhile, fell to 17-11 overall and 8-7 in conference play.
