Entering the first full Saturday of the regular season, there’s one game that Tim Tebow already has a close eye on — Auburn’s showdown with Oregon in Arlington’s AT&T Stadium.

During a recent appearance on ESPN show “First Take,” Tebow shared his thoughts on the SEC vs. Pac-12 contest.

The Ducks are helmed by a quarterback many are hyping up as a potential top NFL selection once the 2020 draft rolls around in senior Justin Herbert. While the ESPN college football analyst sees the talent in Oregon’s signal-caller, he isn’t ready to call Herbert a great college quarterback just yet.

However, playing well against a defense of Auburn’s caliber could change Tebow’s mind.

“I love his talent, but I haven’t necessarily seen it enough to say, ‘Wow, he’s a great college quarterback!’ He is a great talent, but I want to see him do it against the best teams,” Tebow said. “I want to see him do it in the second half. I want to see him do it against an SEC defense. And he has that chance because Auburn is going to have a good defense tomorrow night.”

While many have been clamoring to see Herbert take the field in a nationally televised matchup against an SEC defense, Tebow appears even more interested in seeing Auburn’s freshman signal-caller take the field for the first time as a Tiger.

The way Tebow sees it playing out, there’s a chance Nix steals the spotlight from Herbert.

“The sneaky part of this game is true freshman quarterback for Auburn, Bo Nix,” Tebow continued. “Most people have never heard about him. I think this kid has a chance to truly be a superstar. He is poised, he was built – God made him for Gus Malzahn’s offense – and I’m excited to watch this kid. Because maybe after tomorrow night, everyone goes into the game talking about Justin Herbert, you might come out looking at Bo Nix kid saying, ‘That’s the quarterback we will be watching.'”

As if the hype surrounding the freshman quarterback wasn’t already big enough, Tebow went and dropped this comment on national television. Auburn fans were already well aware of their five-star freshman, and come Saturday night, the rest of the nation will know just who Bo Nix is.
