Against Ole Miss, Auburn took a 10-6 lead into the locker room at halftime. In the third quarter, it appeared someone had flipped a switch. The Tigers scored 21 points to capture the momentum, put the game away and snap a two-game losing skid.

Call it AU’s sledgehammer moment.

Speaking to the media after the game, Auburn OL Marquel Harrell had quite the assessment of his team’s third-quarter performance.

“If you kill a roach with a sledgehammer, he ain’t getting up no more,” Harrell said.

Harrell also used a boxing analogy, which can be heard in the clip below. Auburn took a 31-9 point in the third quarter. Whether you prefer sledgehammer moment or knockout blow, it was clearly the deciding factor in AU’s 31-16 win.
