One of the most widely-held beliefs in college football became official on Wednesday morning when Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence announced his farewell from Clemson and his plans to enter the NFL Draft.

“Looking back, I hope my legacy at Clemson is that I was a great teammate and a great person,” Lawrence said in a video posted to social media. “Overall, more than football, more than how I played each game, just how I treated people. I want that to be the main thing that I’m known for and I feel like the last three years that’s the thing that I’ve kept as a priority is just treating people well and being a good person.”

He thanked his family and the Clemson the coaching staff and support staff for helping him learn and said that they treated him like family.

Lawrence is also widely expected to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, which recently was settled on to be picked by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was the No. 1-ranked pro-style quarterback in the country in the Class of 2018 as Clemson beat out the likes of Georgia and Tennessee to land him. The Cartersville, Georgia native was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2020, and was the ACC Player of the Year and ACC Offensive Player of the Year.
