Trevor Lawrence has long been the presumed No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Much like “Tank for Tua,” fans have been talking about seeing their team “Tank for Trevor.”

Off to an 0-6 start, the New York Jets are in the driver’s seat to grab the first pick of next year’s draft. Former All-Pro wide receiver Roddy White recently shared some advice for Lawrence if New York picks first: go back to college instead of play for the Jets.

“If I’m Trevor Lawrence, if the Jets finish with no wins, I just go back to Clemson. … I don’t want any part of that organization,” White told The Big Lead.

Lawrence, of course, would be taking risks if he followed White’s advice in this hypothetical situation. At Clemson, Lawrence risks injury that could hurt his draft stock or even end his football career before he signs an NFL deal. There’s also, of course, the chance that the Jets could end up getting the No. 1 pick again in 2022.

We’ll see if we have an “Eli Manning refuses to play for the Chargers” situation with Lawrence if the Jets end up with the No. 1 overall pick. There is still a lot of football left to be played for both New York and Clemson.
