D.V. Graves was the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide football program for four seasons from 1911-1914, posting a record of 21-12-3 in that time. He was just 13-11-3 against Southwest Intercollegiate Athletic Association foes during his tenure at Alabama, but was 8-1 against non-conference opponents. Graves also coached one season at Texas A&M in 1918 and his team went 6-1 that season. He also coached 77 college basketball games at four schools and 574 college baseball games at four different schools. He served as Alabama’s athletic director the same years he served as head football coach. Graves passed away in 1960 at the age of 73.
