Daniel S. Martin was a college football coach in the early 1900’s who coached for five seasons at Ole Miss and Mississippi A&M (a.k.a. Mississippi State). He began his coaching career in Oxford in 1902, posting a record of 4-3 as coach of the Rebels. Martin left Ole Miss for Mississippi A&M beginning in 1903 and he coached in Starkville for four seasons. He had his best season with the Bulldogs in 1903, leading A&M to an undefeated 3-0-2 record. It was his lone winning season with the Bulldogs, and Martin ended his tenure in Starkville after the 1906 season with a 10-11-3 record. His overall record as a head coach was 14-14-3 in five seasons. Martin passed away in 1949 at the age of 70.
