Darrell Royal
Darrell Royal was a longtime college football coach who is best known for his 20 seasons as the head coach of the Texas Longhorns from 1957-1976. Prior to arriving at Texas Royal coached at a handful of schools, and began his career with two seasons as the head coach at Mississippi State from 1954-1955. Royal led the Bulldogs to 6-4 records in both his seasons in Starkville, and eventually moved on to lead the University of Washington before taking the job at Texas. He retired following the 1976 season with 184 career wins and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983. Royal passed away in 2012 at the age of 88.
