Frank A. Mason played quarterback at Harvard in the 1880’s and coached the Crimson for one season in 1896. He returned to coaching in 1907 to take over the Ole Miss football program, but led the Rebels to a disastrous 0-6 finish that season. After a 15-0 loss to Mississippi State in the final game of the ’07 season, Mason never returned to Oxford or to the coaching profession. He retired with a career record of 12-8, with all 12 wins coming with Harvard. Mason passed away in 1940 at the age of 78.
