Hal Hunter served as the offensive coordinator at LSU for four seasons from 1995-1998 and in 1999 was promoted to assistant coach under then-head coach Gerry DiNardo. When DiNardo was fired with one week left in the season, Hunter took over as LSU’s interim head coach for one game, a 35-10 win over Arkansas to bring home the Golden Boot. LSU hired Nick Saban as its new head coach in the offseason. The win over Arkansas was Hunter’s only career game as a head coach at the college level. He also worked in the SEC as an assistant at Vanderbilt University from 1991-1994. He’s coached in the NFL since 2006 with the San Diego Chargers and the Indianapolis Colts.
