Jennings B. Whitworth

Jennings B. Whitworth was the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide from 1955-1957, immediately before the arrival of Paul “Bear” Bryant in Tuscaloosa. Whitworth struggled mightily at Alabama, compiling a record of 4-24-2 in three seasons, including a 14-game losing streak beginning in 1955 and ending in 1956. Whitworth also coach baseball at Alabama from 1933-1934 and at the University of Georgia in 1943, compiling a career record of 22-21. He died in 1960 at the age of 51.
