Josh Cody played his college football at Vanderbilt University and went on to serve two stints as an assistant at Vandy from 1923-1927 and again from 1931-1934. He spent four seasons as a head coach in the SEC with the Florida Gators from 1936-1939, failing to record a winning season in that time. He was 17-24-2 as coach of the Gators and just 6-14-2 in the SEC. His teams never finished better than seventh in the conference standings. Cody also coached basketball at Florida for four seasons while serving as the school’s football coach and would later go on to coach both sports at Temple University. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1970 for his playing career at Vanderbilt. Cody passed away in 1961 at the age of 69.
