In 2005, Hill was hired to be the running backs coach at South Carolina. He spent only one year in Columbia. The year prior, Hill went back to his alma mater, University of Arkansas, where he served as a graduate assistant to under Houston Nutt. Despite missing two full seasons for Arkansas, 1996 and 1997, with anterior cruciate ligament tears in each knee, Hill is considered one of the best running backs in Arkansas history.
