Inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach, Ray Morrison coached Vanderbilt in 1918 and again for five seasons in the 1930s.
Morrison earned SEC Coach of the Year honors in 1937, leading the Commodores to a 7-2 record. He won three Southwest Conference championships in 15 seasons coaching Southern Methodist University. He also coached Temple for nine years and won a total of 155 college football games.
Morrison also played quarterback at Vanderbilt and coached the Commodores briefly in basketball and baseball. He lived to be 97 years old died in 1982.
An itinerant journalist, Christopher has moved between states 11 times in seven years. Formally an injury-prone Division I 800-meter specialist, he now wanders the Rockies in search of high peaks.
