Rockey Felker was a longtime football coach in the SEC at Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi State, including a five-year stint as MSU’s head coach from 1986-1990. He spent time as an offensive assistant at Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Memphis and Alabama before taking over as head coach of the Bulldogs. He posted his only winning season as a head coach in his first season in 1986, posting a 6-5 record with a 2-4 mark in the SEC.
Felker’s teams proceeded to finish 4-7, 1-10, 5-6 and 5-6 in his last four seasons in Starkville and was fired following the 1990 campaign. He ended his head coaching career with a 21-34 record. Felker continued to work as an offensive assistant at various programs and spent four seasons as Arkansas’ offensive coordinator before eventually returning to the MSU football program. He has served as Mississippi State’s Director of Player Personnel since 2009.
