The Ole Miss Rebels started 1-0 in the College World Series after beating Auburn 5-1 in the opening round.

The story for the Rebels was pitcher Dylan DeLucia, who threw an absolute gem. DeLucia allowed just 1 hit through 5 innings and finished with 7.2 innings pitched, 4 hits, allowed just 1 run and struck out 10 batters. All of his pitches were working, and he was filling up the strike zone and getting ahead of hitters all night. He didn’t allow a base runner until the 5th inning, and he didn’t walk a hitter the entire outing.

Ole Miss jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the the 6th inning. The Rebels grounded into a double play; however, a run scored. TJ McCants then added an RBI single.

Auburn threatened a big inning in the bottom of the 7th, but it only managed to plate 1 run to cut the lead to 5-1. DeLucia shut the door.

Kemp Alderman got Ole Miss on the board first with a 2-run single in the first inning. Kevin Graham added a solo home run in the third inning.

For the Rebels, Kevin Graham recorded 3 hits, 1 RBI and scored 2 runs, and Kemp Alderman finished with 2 hits and 2 RBIs.

For the Tigers, SEC co-Player of the Year Sonny DiChiara recorded 1 of 4 team hits.

Ole Miss advances in the winner’s bracket to face Arkansas on Monday, while Auburn fell to the loser’s bracket and will face Stanford on Wednesday.
