Just five months after leading Kentucky’s women’s basketball team to its first SEC Tournament title in 40 years, Rhyne Howard just keeps going.

Howard, a 6-foot-2 guard, was named WNBA Rookie of the Year by the Associated Press.

Kentucky-based website “A Sea of Blue” has all the details and a list of Howard’s accomplishments.

The Kentucky women were upset by Princeton in the first round of the NCAA tournament, but the setback didn’t stop Howard’s stock from continuing to rise. She was the first overall pick by the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA Draft and was named WNBA Rookie of the Month in May, June, July and August.

Howard, 22, averaged 16.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals in 34 games with the Dream.

She averaged 20.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 steals in her four years at Kentucky. Howard was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2019 and SEC Player of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
