Media relations is in a frosty place at Michigan State, where the Spartans are recovering from a 38-0 loss at No. 10 Wisconsin.

Playing a highly-ranked team away from home is a challenge, but the Spartans’ offense is struggling, to say the least. The Spartans had 149 yards, just 30 rushing, and lost the time of possession 39:10 to 20:50. What’s more, Michigan State had just 7 first downs and were 2-for-14 on third down conversions.

If that was bad, the first half was worse. Michigan State held the ball for less than 7 minutes, with just 1 first down and 38 total yards. It’s led many to wonder about making major changes on the offensive staff.

Michigan State enters its bye week after losing to the top two teams in the Big 10 72-10 in the last 2 weeks.

Hondo Carpenter of SpartanNation.com described his post-game interaction with coach Mark Dantonio this way: “I asked Dantonio if not changing offensive staff was a mistake and if not how does he fix offense. Called it a, “Dumb ass question.'”
