The way Navy’s AD views the upcoming matchup between Army and Navy, if there’s only one college football game during the 2020 college football season, it’s going to be this game.

That’s the message Chet Gladchuk, Navy’s AD, shared with ESPN college football reporter Heather Dinich.

“If there’s only one game we’re going to play,” Gladchuk said, “It’s the Army-Navy game. Unless the pandemic is such at the time that we’re precluded by the city of Philadelphia to play that game, we have every intention of playing Army-Navy.”

The rivalry is annually featured on CBS during a nationally televised broadcast and hosted by Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The upcoming matchup in the series is set to be played on Saturday, Dec. 12 in front of a packed house.

“The game is already virtually sold out,” Gladchuk continued. “Can we accommodate that number? I don’t know. We always look at it this way — including Notre Dame on Labor Day weekend — we’re preparing for scenarios and we can always back down if we have to. Good old-fashioned ticket refund. Everybody does it. If we have to give money back, we give money back, but at least we’re prepared, right now on the front side.”

Here’s to hoping the Army-Navy rivalry game isn’t the only one we see this year but at least the Navy AD is openly very committed to having this rivalry continue for another season.
