No. 1 vs. No. 4 will lack some star power.

As shared on the CBS Sports halftime broadcast of Auburn-LSU and by Clemson beat reporters, Dabo Swinney has announced that junior quarterback Trevor Lawrence will not play against No. 4 Notre Dame.

When news broke Thursday night of Lawrence’s positive test for COVID-19, fans and media members immediately speculated about whether the Heisman Trophy candidate would be back for the Notre Dame game.

Adam Zucker of CBS Sports shared that Lawrence is out due to the ACC’s required cardiac testing coming out of the conference’s 10-day isolation protocol.

In Lawrence’s absence, former 5-star recruit DJ Uiagalelei stepped in at quarterback for Clemson against Boston College. The Tigers trailed 28-10 in the second quarter, but Uiagalelei and company managed to score 22 unanswered to take a 32-28 lead with the final two points coming on a safety for a 34-28 comeback victory.
