Don’t expect the Florida State coaching search to drag on for too long.

On Wednesday, Seminoles athletics director David Coburn said that he and the athletics board are expecting to make a hire by the end of November, according to Warchant.com. That means an announcement likely won’t come until the end of the regular season, when Florida State could potentially hire a coach from another school.

It’s possible that the Seminoles’ job goes to a coach who is currently in the SEC. Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops, a former Florida State defensive coordinator, is among the names that have been rumored for the opening so far.

On Sunday, the Seminoles fired Willie Taggart, who was in his second season as their head coach. During that time, Florida State went 9-12, which includes going 4-5 this season.

The Seminoles haven’t had many recent coaching searches as Bobby Bowden (1976-2009) and Jimbo Fisher (2010-17) combined to hold the job for 42 seasons. Now, they’re looking for a new head coach for the second time in three years.

There should continue to be plenty of speculation about who the next coach to lead the Seminoles will be, especially with the search unlikely to end until late November.
