The Clemson Tigers had a commitment from 2021 5-star DE Korey Foreman — the No. 1 overall player in the class.

However, he has reportedly backed off that pledge, and the reason is an interesting one.

Per 247Sports, Foreman wants to visit other schools, which isn’t allowed under Clemson’s commitment policy:

So what changed in the last month or so to make Foreman open up his recruitment? From what we have heard from a couple of sources to the recruitment, Foreman wants to take his official visits and Clemson has a strict ‘no-trip’ policy for committed players. The rule essentially is, take all the trips you want prior to committing, but once you commit, then it’s time to shut down your recruitment.

It’s still certainly possible that Foreman will end up at Clemson, but this decision opens the door for other programs to swoop in.

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Foreman is the No. 1 overall player in the 2021 class and the top recruit from California.
