Thank you Jack Miller for putting on the Orange and Blue. I’m sure you put forth your best effort to be the starting quarterback for UF. Unlike one particular poster on this forum I appreciate your contributions to the team and university. Most of us that post don’t know what it takes to go through season after season preparing to play this game at the D1 level. I was blessed to have a son that played college football, so I experienced first hand the ups and downs that a player goes through when it comes to basically year round training. The best of luck to you in your next endeavors. Go Gators!
I agree to an extent that student athletes should be made to wait a period of time before transferring schools. My recommendation would be that no transfers would be allowed until they have been with that program for 2 yrs. This in my mind would stabilize college athletics to a degree. It would also help the smaller programs. There is too much movement amongst players, yet at the same time they should be able to switch teams just as these coaches often do. Being on scholarship should not put you in a situation that you can’t do what’s best for you and your future. I ask myself would I want to be tied to a job/situation that I can’t leave for a better fit or opportunity. Loyalty works both ways, or it should. And if the truth be told we as fans more often than not think of ourselves and our program more so than the individual athlete.
NCAA rules for housing for athletes, in particular for football players was changed in the late 80's early 90's. It use to be that athletes could be assigned to their own dorm areas and no other students would have access to those dwellings. The NCAA then ruled that all students must be given access to all housing on and off campus. That is still in effect today, the apartments that the Gator football players are being assigned is also open to any other student at UF. As of now there are more non-athletes living in this new apartment complex than there are football players. Being transparent this complex will eventually have the majority of the football team housed there over the next 2 years. UF is not breaking or ignoring any rules in assigning players to this complex.
My fellow Gator fan(s) we are ranked just about were we need to be at #11. We beat Bama this coming Saturday the rankings will take care of itself, we will definitely be in the top ten. We have played 2 teams inferior to the Gators, in which both cases our DB's did not play well overall if we are honest. There were several poor throws by both teams that could have gone for TD's but were poorly thrown. Yes they are young and inexperienced but Bama does not care about that, nor our lack of pressure up the middle with our D-line. Our D will need to turn it up a notch or 2 this Saturday. There is no biased against the Gators when it comes to the pollsters. Now placing Notre Dame as high as they are is questionable, as well as leaving Kentucky out of the top 25. In both games we have not put together a full consistent game regardless of how many players that have been rotated in and out of the games. Last but not least if AR-15 is at full strength he needs to get the bulk of the work behind center.
You are most likely correct, but guess what they didn't make the playoffs. Therefore it is a mute point. Pure conjecture on your part and everyone else that guess they might have including myself.
To all of you college football fans that want to label these players as quitters I say to you get a life. What you are actually doing is exposing your own selfish interest. I would also like to see each one of these guys put on the Orange and Blue one more time, that they would help give UF a better chance to defeat the Sooners. However it is not my future to determine, it's theirs. If anyone of them suffer a serious injury not one of you will lift a finger to help them out financially. It would then be "well that's the chance they took'. You may feel bad for them, but that's about all. We are in 2020, not the 70's, 80's, or 90's. New age and times. This gives those other guys a chance to prove themselves, and that is where my focus will be. Thank you Toney, Pitts, Grimes, Wilson, and any other gator that decides to opt out. Too bad there are grown people that only see what's in it for them (their personal pleasure) when it comes to a life changing decision. Go Gators!
